In the
Townscapes series, I incorporate
the elements of time and movement to illustrate the beauty and charm of
the ordinary street scenes in the hill towns and villages that surround
my studio. These kinetic images give the viewer a sense of "place". They
are designed to change character as you view them from different
distances. The paintings look quasi real from a distance to total
abstractions on closer inspection. Light and the absence of light are
major components in the success of these paintings. I have a very broad
definition of street scenes as my paintings illustrate. The manipulation
of images on planes at different planes is important not the specific
subject. The manipulation defines the painting as a Townscape painting.
This is an ongoing series.
